FIDE has revealed it will hold an extraordinary meeting to "review" all planned official chess events in Russia in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It comes after the world governing body came under intense pressure to strip Russia of its flagship Chess Olympiad — the chess equivalent of the FIFA World Cup — which is due to be held in Moscow this July-August.
